Heart disease is the #1 killer of women in the United States, claiming more lives than all cancers combined. African-American women are disproportionately affected by this disease.
On Tuesday, February 13, 2018, MedStar Montgomery Medical Center and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Theta Omega Omega Chapter hosted "Wine, Women and Heart Disease". Cardiologist Estelle Jean, MD, of MedStar Health Cardiology Associates discussed the signs and symptoms of heart disease and ways to reduce one's risk. This event included a complimentary wine tasting, a light dinner, and blood pressure screenings.
